About the team

The Events Team is responsible for the strategic design, delivery, and brand of the AICD’s world-class events program—one of the Institute’s largest member engagement channels.

Aligned with AICD’s strategic objectives, the program supports directors throughout their director careers by addressing contemporary governance challenges and enhancing member value through targeted content, capability-building, and networking opportunities.

The team also develops high-quality sponsorships with partners who align with the AICD’s mission and values.

 

About the role

The Manager, Event Experience is responsible for shaping and designing the member and delegate experience across AICD's national events program. Leading a team of Event Designers, this role drives the delivery of high-quality event experiences, supports the adoption of event technology and business systems, and identifies opportunities to improve processes, engagement and operational efficiency.

Working across a diverse portfolio of in-person, virtual and hybrid events, the role combines people leadership, commercial oversight and strategic thinking to ensure AICD continues to deliver engaging and impactful experiences for members and stakeholders

Your remit will be broad and will include:

  • Leading, coaching and developing a team of six Event Designers to build capability, performance and engagement.
  • Providing strategic guidance and oversight across the event portfolio to ensure consistently high-quality attendee experiences.
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives that enhance member and delegate engagement across all event formats.
  • Identifying and implementing innovative approaches to event design, delivery and attendee experience.
  • Reviewing event budgets and P&Ls, supporting financial performance and commercial decision-making across the program.
  • Partnering with Technology and Digital teams to optimise event systems, processes and platform capability.
  • Contributing to the ongoing enhancement and integration of CRM and event management platforms.
  • Building strong relationships with stakeholders across the organisation to align event experiences with broader member engagement objectives.
  • Monitoring event feedback, operational performance and emerging trends to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation.
  • Supporting the adoption of project management tools, processes and ways of working that improve team efficiency and collaboration.

Desired Skills and Experience

What you bring to the role

You are an experienced events leader with a passion for creating engaging attendee experiences and developing high-performing teams. You bring a combination of commercial acumen, strategic thinking and operational expertise, along with the ability to identify opportunities to improve how events are designed, delivered and experienced.

  • 5+ years' experience in event design management, conference production or event delivery.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing teams.
  • Qualifications in Event Management, Marketing or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience designing and delivering live, virtual and/or hybrid events.
  • Experience managing event budgets and monitoring event financial performance.
  • Strong knowledge of event technology, production and event management platforms.
  • Experience working with CRM and event management systems.
  • Well-developed stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • A strong customer, member and delegate experience focus.
  • A continuous improvement mindset with the ability to identify and implement new ideas, processes and ways of working
